Bourton-On-The-Water

I don’t remember the last time I go out to somewhere fresh and natural forest that have beautiful clear river like I used to do at Okayama. So I asked Adi to bring us to somewhere that really nice and calm or nice garden to visit around Bristol and he find this one small town called Bourton-On-The-Water or known as Venice of the Costwolds. And my beloved hubby generously drove us in 1hr journey to Bourton yesterday :D   Yeay… I REALLY LOVE THIS SMALL TOWN!!! :D  really nice and beautiful!  Although this town is a bit in the middle of nowhere but there are lots of attractions to see like Motor Museum, Perfumery Exhibition, Birdland, Maze, Model Railway and Model Village and of course the main attraction is its nice clear and shallow river in the heart of town.. but we didnt see much, just walked along the river and the Model Village. We had a nice walked, the minus point just it was too cold yesterday so pity Elyas to stay outside for too long :(   Well, we definitely will come again when the spring come.. err..or summer or autumn.. hahaha…

Cornwall:Day 3

This is the last day for our 3 days 2 nights trip to Cornwall. After breakfast, we packed our things and checked-out around 10 am. But we didn’t go back straight away, we just put luggages in car and then walked around St Ives for the last time. It was really cold morning that day, so eventhough it was 10am already, the sky was very gloomy and not much people on the beach. We walked slowly around the beach and then we entered the St Ives Museum. Quite interesting because it has lots of old pictures (more than 100yrs old) of St Ives. We spent around 1hr there then we went to harbour again to last minute shopping for omiyage. We bought home made Cornish fudge at an old lady store. She made it all by herself so I felt like the fudges were original specialty. And we also tried Cornish Pasty. A giant curry puff look alike pasty with sweetcorn, brocolly and cheese filling (actually we already had one Cornish pasty at marazion but it too salty and just had potatoes & carrots inside). The Cornish pasty is very big, bigger than my palm, enough for two Asian people to eat.

We round and round the St Ives till 12pm, eventhough we just had our Cornish pasty but we decided to eat lunch here before drive to Tintagel. Since the first day, Adi kept mention that he wanted to eat Fish & Chip, so we entered a small coffee shop which don’t have name signboard outside but very simple and nice. Adi ordered Cod & Chip for him and a slice of Apple Pie for me. See these pictures below, see how big the Fish & Chip!!! makan sampai mabok!!!

After mabok Fish & Chip we drove to Tintagel. Tintagel is famous for its The Old Post Office; the 13th century Cornish building and The Tintagel Castle; the legend of King Arthur. When we arrived it was already 4pm, giri-giri before they closed. The Old Post Office was a nice old house with post office counter located in the middle of the town. But The Tintagel Castle was a big challenge to me because we need to walk 600m on ’jalan kampung’ just to arrived at the information counter. Then to go to the castle,we need to climb at least 100 steep steps exactly on the cliff!!! merangkak nak panjat tangga naik atas (T_T). The Castle have two parts; island & mainland, we just went to the mainland area because I don’t think that i can climb to the island area which is much more steps than the mainland. After 45mins we went back down to the info counter. From there we paid 1.50pound/person to ride Landrover Shuttle to back to Tintagel town, kaki ketaq byk naik turun bukit. When we arrived at carpark, it was 6pm already, so we drove back to Bristol, ended our trip to Cornwall. Next time, maybe trip to Scotland (^_^)V

Cornwall:Day 2

Sebagai pembuka kata, saya ingin mengucapkan selamat menyambut ramadhan kepada semua. Semoga bertambah amal ibadat pada tahun ini dan hidup dilimpahi berkat bulan ramadhan.

On second day in Cornwall, we went to Saint Micheal’s Mount at Marazion about 15mins drive from St Ives. The Saint Micheal’s Mount is an island but you can walk when the tide is low. It has a myth about a giant and long history from thousand of years ago. It used to be an army based hundred years ago and when Spain armada came to England to war, this castle was the first based that spot the armada and warned the England by torched a fire. The castle is located on top of the mount. Quite high and curam; termengah-mengah mak buyung ni nak sampai ke puncak. But it worth it with its nice view (^_^)

After that we drove to Minack Theatre. An unique open air theatre on the cliff. This theatre built by a woman-Rowena Cade. But on that day there was a performance when we arrived so I cant see the spectacular theatre area. we just can see from outside the theatre. (-_-;)

Then we went to Land’s End. Like its name, this is the end of the UK mainland in south. Nothing much there, just a small theme park.

Lend’s End was the closing to our second day trip. Back to St Ives again, bought kebab for dinner then lepak in our room for the rest of the night.

Cornwall: Day 1

Finally, I’m sitting on my comfort sofa while watching DVD in home sweet home after long travelled. This entry about Cornwall trip day 1.

Early in the morning, I woke up to make breakfast and bekal for our 4 hours drive. then, 8 o’clock bertolak dari umah menuju ke St Ives. It was a looong drives. Thanx to our bimmer, which gave my butt good comfort. hehehe… Adi droves straight 3 hours from Bristol until he did his ‘personal site visit’ to Wadebridge. Took pictures of his ’sains*bury project site’. Then we back to our track to St Ives.

Around half past 11, we arrived at ST IVES!!!!yeay!! eventhough it was weekdays, the town were packed with with people and we hardly can found an available car park. For two nights in St Ives we stayed at Corneyways B&B that has 50 yrs history as B&B. We stayed at the loft room, which has a nice view of the harbour & beach.

After a good rest , we walked around the harbour and town and also the beaches. The weather was windy and cold and cloudy. Lots of people enjoying swimming at the beach but i just dare to celup hujung jari kaki because the water was really…really COLD!!!! We just lay on the beach but not so long before we gave up and stayed in our warm room.

Around 7pm, we went out again to find something to eat. Since Cornwall is famous with its fresh fish/seafood so we would like to eat fish dish for dinner. There are lots of restaurants but because too many people, we need to jump from a restaurant to another to find an available seat. After waited for half an hour, we got our seat. We ate boring English fish dish; steam fish fillet with little seasoning and steam vegetables (cukuplah kalau nak try ‘English dish’) . After “satisfied” with our foods, we walked along the harbour and ended our 1st day in St Ives.
